Military Discharge Attorney

Federal law establishes a Discharge Review Board for each branch of service (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Navy) to review the character, reason and authority of a military discharge of any service member. The Boards are authorized to upgrade the characterization of service for any service member who was administratively separated or discharged by some type of military courts martial. Brent C. Diefenderfer, CGA Law Firm’s military law attorney, represents former service members in the administrative process of preparing petitions to upgrade the characterization of service of their military discharges.

Many military discharges have critical legal errors. In the rush to discharge a former service member, some units overlook their administrative due process and legal rights. Only an attorney who is knowledgeable in military law can identify those errors and develop them into a persuasive basis for a petition.

Attorney Diefenderfer is a former attorney for the Command and for individual service members. He has reviewed hundreds of administrative and judicial separations for legal sufficiency. As part of your representation, he will create a professionally drafted petition and memoranda of law that identifies legal errors, cites applicable law and makes full use of the persuasive equitable arguments that are unique to your case. In-person representation and advocacy before the Discharge Review Boards is also available and recommended.
