CGA Law Firm announces the retirement of The Honorable John C. Uhler, concluding his tenure as Of Counsel with the firm. Judge Uhler’s distinguished legal career spans over fifty years, including twenty-five years on the York County Court of Common Pleas and five as President Judge. As President Judge, Uhler was instrumental in building the new York County Judicial Center.
Since joining CGA in 2014, Judge Uhler has focused on complex commercial litigation, estate matters, and alternative dispute resolution. His expertise as an accredited mediator and arbitrator has been invaluable to the firm’s litigation practice.
Judge Uhler’s contributions to Pennsylvania’s legal landscape are significant. In 1998, he established the state’s first Juvenile Mental Health Court Program and founded York County’s Truancy Prevention Initiative. His leadership in juvenile justice led to appointments on key state committees, including the Interbranch Commission on Juvenile Justice.
Before his judicial career, Judge Uhler served as York County District Attorney and as a Federal Prosecutor, where he opened the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Harrisburg. His diverse legal background encompassed private practice, handling a wide array of civil matters.
Throughout his career, Judge Uhler has been recognized for his professional excellence and community service. His accolades include the Child Advocate of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Central Penn Business Journal’s 2021 Legal Excellence Award.
