York Symphony Orchestra’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”

August 28, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a Summer Open Air Concert at the York Fairgrounds, is being performed only on August 28th. The show will be conducted by Lawrence Golan and feature Heather Hill as soprano.

About the Score: Felix Mendelssohn scored his Suite from A Midsummer Night’s Dream being inspired by Shakespeare’s play filled with fairies and spells. Mendelssohn composed the imaginative melodies to magical fanfare with Romantic-era expression. Unpublished for over 100 years, Fanny Mendelssohn’s Overture In C Major builds upon its slow awakening to a lively allegro. Inspired by James Agee’s A Death in the Family, Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer Of 1915 reminiscences about childhood memories.
