CGA Law Firm receives the Department of Defense Seven Seals Award

·

ESGR recognized the firm for standing behind colleagues who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

On Wednesday, October 7, the Department of Defense’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) presented CGA Law Firm with the Seven Seals Award. Col. James E. Astor, USAF (Ret.), ESGR’s South-Central Area Representative, presented the award in the lobby of our downtown York office.

ESGR gives the Seven Seals Award to employers and individuals whose support advances its mission of building cooperation between Guard and Reserve members and their civilian employers. Col. Astor told the room that ESGR typically presents only 12 to 15 of them a year across Pennsylvania. Five went to this region in the past year.

Lt. Col. Courtney M. Buechler is a CGA attorney and a U.S. Army Reserve officer whose service has included a 10-month deployment to Africa. In May, she nominated four colleagues for ESGR Patriot Awards for the support they gave her throughout: Craig S. Sharnetzka, Jeffrey L. Rehmeyer, Margaret “Mieke” Driscoll and Charles B. Calkins. That same month, the firm signed the ESGR Statement of Support, a public pledge to stand behind employees who serve.

“I was incredibly grateful for how CGA ensured that I remained part of the fold while I was deployed,” Buechler said at the ceremony. “That support didn’t end the moment I came back.”

“Courtney serves her country and her clients,” said Craig S. Sharnetzka, shareholder and president of CGA Law Firm. “We are proud to support her and those who serve in the Guard and Reserve. It truly is an honor to receive this recognition.”

The award also reflects the firm’s encouragement of its attorneys and staff to volunteer for programs that support service members and first responders. One is Wills for Heroes, which provides free estate planning documents to first responders and military veterans.

We are grateful to ESGR for this recognition, to Courtney for her service to the country and to our clients, and to all who serve.
