Derek T. Maninfior

Overview

Derek Maninfior is a litigator who represents businesses and individuals when commercial relationships break down, business owners reach an impasse, or disputes arise over property or inheritance. He works closely with his clients to identify their objectives, assess the legal and practical considerations at stake, and develop a strategy focused on achieving a favorable resolution, whether through litigation or negotiation.

From strategic planning and initial pleadings through trial and appeal, Derek protects his clients’ interests at every stage of litigation and has successfully recovered hundreds of thousands of dollars on their behalf. He represents clients throughout York, Lancaster, and South-Central Pennsylvania in matters involving:

• Commercial and Business Litigation: Representing businesses, owners, and individuals in breach of contract claims, disputes among shareholders and business partners, contested buyouts, restrictive covenant matters, and other conflicts arising from commercial relationships.
• Partition Actions and Real Estate Disputes: Resolving disputes among co-owners when they can no longer agree on the ownership, use, disposition, or sale of real property. Derek represents family members, heirs, former partners, and other property owners in developing a practical path toward resolution.
• Estate and Trust Litigation: Representing beneficiaries, executors, trustees, and other fiduciaries in will contests, disputes concerning the administration of estates and trusts, and other contested Orphans’ Court matters.
• Construction Disputes: Representing property owners, contractors, and other parties in disputes arising from residential and commercial construction projects, including claims involving contractual obligations, payment, performance, and project-related losses.
• Insurance and Subrogation Litigation: Defending businesses and individuals against subrogation and reimbursement claims pursued by insurers, including claims arising from property damage, contractual liability, and other alleged losses.

Derek earned his J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law, where he received a Certificate in Trial Advocacy. During law school, he served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Thomas P. Rogers of the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas and held internships with the Office of the Solicitor for the U.S. Department of Labor and the City of Philadelphia Law Department.

Before attending law school, Derek pursued an extensive education in music, earning a Bachelor of Music from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Music from Indiana University Bloomington.

A Lancaster resident, Derek is actively involved in the legal and local communities through professional organizations, civic engagement, and service. Outside of his practice, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young daughters, traveling, and continuing his lifelong interest in music.
