Deb Werner Celebrates 10 Years with CGA

Although she began her CGA career on the Real Estate legal team, Deb found herself in Estate Planning when a long-time employee announced their retirement plans. While working in Estate Planning, Deb discovered she had an interest and aptitude for the work in this practice area. Former CGA Attorney Rees Griffiths and his wife, Sue, initiate the Griffiths Salvation Army Scholarship

The Griffiths Salvation Army Scholarship launched this year with a $10,000 scholarship presented to a York High senior at the York High Awards Ceremony last evening. The recipient plans to attend Morgan State University to study nursing. Major Babbitt presented the scholarship. Rees and Sue’s estate plans provide that 80 percent of their estate goes to awarding similar scholarships to high achieving students with clear financial need. FEMA Funeral Assistance Program

Among the programs available to assist those who are bereaved by the Covid-19 epidemic is a new program that assists with reimbursement of funeral costs. FEMA has introduced the COVID-19 Funeral Assistance Policy, which reimburses applicants for funeral costs associated with COVID-19 related fatalities.  An applicant who paid funeral costs of a Covid-19 decedent is eligible to receive up to $9,000 in reimbursement assistance per funeral.  To be eligible, the applicant must be a US citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien.  There is, however, no requirement that the decedent be a US citizen or national.
